Residents and a few participants from the community work in a sheltered vocational training center to provide meaningful, productive employment. Our workshop is certified by the Department of Labor and has a workforce of approximately 70 individuals and 11 job coaches and quality control coordinators. Contracts with companies such as Honda Manufacturing have made this a very successful program. Our workshop is responsible for assembling the Owner Manual Kits, which are placed in the glove compartment of every Honda Pilot, Odyssey, Ridgeline, and Accord manufactured at the Lincoln, Alabama plant. On average, we assemble 1,200 packets per day.
Other current and former contracts include: Birmingham Fasteners, the Talladega Superspeedway, Jacksonville State University, Metro Mail, Central Castings, Hager Hinge, Distribution Dynamics, Potts Marketing Group, Sentinel Consumer Products, and Southern Bottled Water. If you would like more information on our our vocational program, please contact Gail Tillman.
We plan to break ground on a new vocational facility in the very near future! The new work center will be approximately 26,000 square feet. The additional space will allow us to expand our production with Honda and solicit new contracts from other businesses. The current facility will be transformed into a recreational building for group activities.
